SEEKER OF THE OLD WAYS
In a world adrift, the Druids Order of South Africa invites you to reclaim the profound Celtic and Druidic tradition – a living path that honours Nature, the history of the megalithic builders, the wisdom of the Celts, and the eternal dance of the Elements. Our course unfolds as an inward spiral, guiding from the outer edges of sensory encounter with Nature, through deepening mastery and soul-reclamation, to the radiant core of elder sovereignty:
- Outer Ring (Grades I–III): Foundations of the Elements
- Inner Ring (Grades IV–VI): Recovering Wholeness
- Core (Grade VII): Sovereign Centre
The course is intended as a transformative initiation, awakening your soul to the Elements and restoring wholeness through ancient lore and practical rites. Rooted in Celtic tradition, you will journey with the breath of the bards, the deep earth of the ovates, and the flowing light of the druids – all while attuning to Nature’s rhythms for health, resilience, and sacred purpose. Each grade is delivered and presented to you in A4 manuscript form, for safekeeping in our custom binder for when you have completed the entire course. You also gain access to online videos, music and sound clips, as well as a detailed Q&A session focusing on the lessons of the modules for each grade.
GRADES I–III
THE OUTER RING
I - ANNWN (BARDD)
AIR - SOUND
Enter the realm of Annwn, the Welsh Otherworld of inspiration and rebirth. As Bardd, study the history of the ancient megalithic builders, leading to the inheritance of the Celtic Druids and today's neo-Druidic traditions.
Then, learn to channel Awen (divine breath) through voice and vibration, engaging the breath as life-force. Practise sound for healing, and praise poetry to honour the ancestors, while attuning to Earth’s Schumann resonances – restoring clarity, confidence, and soul-song.
II - OFYDD (LIAIG)
EARTH - DARK
Dive into the womb of the Earth – the dark fertility from which all life emerges. As an Ovate (Welsh Ofydd, Irish Liaig) you become a healer and seer, exploring fungal and herbal wisdom, with a medicinal apothecary of your own.
Master the seasonal cycles as per the wheel of the year, and understand the intricacies of the soil-food-web for transforming death and chaos into sacred life. Reclaim and build self-sufficiency from the earth, as you reconnect with Nature to recover the soul's wholeness.
III - DRU-WID (BREHON)
WATER - LIGHT
Embrace water as flowing intelligence, and light as ordered consciousness. Channel the wisdom of sacred springs, Celtic law, and cosmic illumination as you gain the skills to judge and resolve disputes (Irish Brehon).
Practice structured water rituals, moral clarity, scrying, and light meditations – balancing flow and order to awaken leadership, ethical sovereignty, and radiant vitality. This grade awakens life’s flow while maintaining inner order, preparing you to lead with wisdom and to balance the elemental forces within yourself and your community.
GRADES IV–VI
THE INNER RING
IV - ANNWN (OLLAMH)
FIRE - REGENERATION
Rise to the Ollamh, the Irish master bard and philosopher-poet, whose years of training culminated in profound wisdom drawn from Annwn’s cauldrons of rebirth. In this inner-ring grade you deepen the work of the Bardd, entering the advanced mysteries of breath, vibration, and inspiration.
Explore overtone singing and Pythagorean music of the spheres, with the philosophical poetry of soul journeys and reincarnation. Refine your attunement to megalithic acoustics and Schumann harmonics, using advanced breathwork and sound healing to elevate consciousness and emotional sovereignty. Ultimately, become a living conduit for divine inspiration, capable of guiding others through the power of sound and word.
V - OFYDD (SAER)
CRAFT - STEWARD
Master the alchemical forge of the Earth. In this advanced Ofydd grade you integrate and deepen the healing and crafting arts of the Sáer (Irish: Free Artisan), working with the raw chaos of Nature to create order and abundance in your chosen craft.
Advance in herbal processing, wild foraging, fermentation and food preservation, as well as the use of sacred geometry in talismans and tools. Through transformative rituals, intuitive crafting, and sustainable practices, you mould the resources of Earth into beauty and resilience. This is the path of the sovereign artisan and healer who can heal body, soul, and land, reclaiming the ancient power to shape matter with intention and reverence.
VI - DRU-WID (DRAOI)
ORDO AB CHAO
In this final and most advanced grade of the course, you embody the fully realised Druid (Irish Draoi), the sage-advisor and ritual leader of the ancient Celts. Master the Quadrivium to complete the several liberal arts, whilst deepening your knowledge of Nature and the Elements.
Explore quantum coherence in water, and biophoton light, together with biomimicry and symbiosis of species, and what that entails for humanity. Integrate all aspects of the previous degrees for enhanced health and sustainability, while designing and leading community ceremonies, studying reincarnation theology, and balancing the Elements for vitality. Ultimately, become a source of flowing wisdom and ethical leadership, as you prepare to advise, guide, and uplift others in harmony with the living world.
GRADE VII
THE CORE
VII - ELDER (ARD RI)
LEGACY
Finally you arrive at the core – the sovereign elder, the Irish Ard-Rí or High King, advised by druidic wisdom as the ancient Celtic kings and queens once were. In this final, honorary, grade you synthesize the entire path into a personal, unified whole.
Build your legacy through mentoring, advanced health and longevity practices, self-initiation as elder, and community contribution. Through deep reflection on reincarnation, soul eternity, and the eternal cycles of Nature, you become the seed that reseeds – a bridge between ancestors and future generations, radiating wholeness, sovereignty, and renewal. This is the culmination of the spiral: you stand at the centre, whole, sovereign, and ever-renewing in service to the land, the people, and the Elements.
